July 1, 2022 — Uyeno Group Holdings Ltd. announced that Oxalis Chemicals Ltd., a chemical trading company belonging to the Uyeno Group, is now ISCC PLUS-certified. ISCC Plus is an international certification system for sustainable products. Now ISCC PLUS-certified, Oxalis Chemicals will be able to provide its customers with a sustainability declaration for products introduced from ISCC-certified suppliers, along with details such as lot numbers and mass balance*1 for products with bio-based content.

International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a system that certifies that sustainable materials (within the EU: agricultural and forestry raw materials, waste, residues, biogas, algae; outside the EU: in addition to these materials, non-bio renewables and recycled carbon materials and fuels) are properly managed and traceable in terms of processes and quantities (using a per-lot “mass balance” approach) throughout the entire process from collection, production and conversion, to intermediates, to production of the final product.*2

Oxalis Chemicals believes that sustainable chemicals can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and help foster a circular economy. As such, the company filed a registration with ISCC PLUS, a certification system for those outside the EU, in February 28, 2022 (registration number: ISCC-Reg-12274), and as a result, obtained the certification on June 15 (certificate number: ISCC-PLUS-Cert-DE100-12274122).

This ISCC PLUS certification will enable the Uyeno Group to contribute to the development of economic activities in alignment with the circular economy concept and the use of natural products.

*1: Also known as material balance.

*2: This system is called a chain of custody, which is a means used in production logistics management.
