Disaster Prevention
Maritime disaster prevention
We respond quickly to emergencies and protect ships, port facilities, and marine resources.
In the event of an oil or HNS1 spill at sea or a fire on board a vessel, we respond promptly to the accident with our own disaster prevention vessels and disaster prevention equipment and materials. In addition, we have a contract with the Japan Maritime Disaster Prevention Center (JMDPC), a core organization for disaster prevention in Japan, and have many personnel trained in maritime disaster prevention. In addition to providing accurate disaster prevention response at all times, we also provide education and guidance on oil spill prevention methods during normal times.

Note 1: HNS stands for hazardous and noxious substances; a generic term for flammable hazardous substances and liquid substances other than oil that are harmful to the marine environment.
Maritime security
We keep the sea safe 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
In accordance with the Maritime Traffic Safety Law, we provide escort services for large vessels navigating the Irago Channel, as well as watching and patrol for vessels loaded with dangerous goods (crude oil, petroleum products, LPG, LNG, etc.) entering the large tanker berth at the Port of Nagoya, Port of Yokkaichi, and other ports. We protect the safety of a vessel in Ise Bay through a day or night and aim to expand the technology and experience we have cultivated here throughout Japan.

Assisting cargo handling
Our group of experts in dangerous goods cargo handling performs safe and prompt cargo handling.
We have perform line handling work, assistant of connection and disconnection of cargo work hose for loading and unloading.
We are well versed in the handling of hazardous cargoes at electric power companies and major oil refinery, and we are committed to the safe cargo handling of our customers with our abundant experience and advanced technical capabilities.
Diving operations
We solve all kinds of problems on the seabed.
We provide ship bottom survey and underwat
We provide ship bottom survey and underwater inspection services for offshore facilities.
Our experienced personnel, who has diver license, can flexibly respond to ship troubles other than surveys and inspections.
Maritime business
Ship agency
We support the smooth arrival and departure of vessels at ports throughout Japan.
The agency handles all administrative work for and on behalf of ship owner and master, such as arranging for pilots, tugs, line handling etc, and applying for permission from the relevant authorities.
We look to expand our business nationwide and provide high quality services at ports all over Japan by making the most of our long years of experience and know-how as an agent for domestic and foreign vessels, mainly in Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay, Mikawa Bay and Osaka Bay.
Customs broker
We handle complicated customs clearance operations to ensure smooth and accurate import/export operations in strict compliance with laws and regulations.
In order to facilitate smooth delivery and receipt of cargo by Customer, we handle the various customs declaration procedures for import and export of goods on their behalf.
In September 2016, we were accredited by the Director General of Customs as an AEO-accredited2 customs broker, and we support our customers to complete customs declaration procedures accurately and promptly.

Note 2: AEO accreditation is a system that provides relaxed and simplified customs procedures to businesses that have established a system for cargo security management and legal compliance.
Safety Superintendent
Our personnel, who are well versed in tanker cargo handling, support safe cargo handling.
Safety Superintendent attend the cargo handling sites of vessels entering refineries, power plants and oil depots throughout Japan and act as maritime experts to act as liaisons between ship and shore, providing advice on cargo handling and checking for safety at dangerous locations.
Uyeno Maritime Japan mainly inspects acceptance of vessels entering the port of Showa Yokkaichi Sekiyu Corporation. UMJ’ssuperintendents possess the experience on board ocean-going vessels ensure the safety of cargo handling while in port and work to build mutual trust with the terminal, shippers, shipping companies, port authorities, etc.
Other ventures
Lubricating oil delivery
We play a part in the lubricant supply chain to ensure safe supply.
In Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay and Osaka Bay, we operate barge vessel that supply marine lubricants mainly sold by Shell Lubricants Japan Corporation and deliver them to vessels anchored at quayside or anchorage.
Sales of disaster prevention equipment and materials, ship supplies and pallets
We provide our customers with the necessary disaster prevention equipment and materials at the time they are needed.
Uyeno Maritime Japan mainly sells disaster prevention materials and equipment such as oil fences, oil adsorbents and oil treatment agents, which are necessary in the event of oil spills and other accidents, as well as marine consumables.
In addition, we manufacture, import, sell and lease wooden pallets.
Disaster Prevention Consultancy
We propose a highly practical maritime disaster prevention system to prevent accidents and the spread of damage.
We provide professional consulting, development and modification of equipment and materials, and new installation and repair of facilities to prevent oil and HNS (hazardous and noxious substances) spills and minimize damage at factories and tank terminals in coastal areas.
We support the establishment of rational and practical marine disaster prevention systems and systems for handling hazardous materials by combining the various knowledge, know-how, and experience we have accumulated through our 50 years of experience in marine disaster prevention operations.
